Join Write to Discover, INKspire’s free virtual creative writing program for youth (ages 15-24) to uncover and master creative writing skills.
The workshops will be starting in late September 2023; the deadline to apply is September 8th, 2023 at 11:59 PM.
Write to Discover will provide young writers with a safe and supportive space where they can learn to express themselves through creative writing.
In small groups, you will explore how to use different forms of creative writing to share your experiences.

Writer-in-Residence
Rochelle Ellar, Remaining is a Canadian-Caribbean Black, femme, queer, and neurodivergent artist. They are a founding member of the theatre collective “The Madville Collective”. Rochelle’s work challenges Western ideologies, exploring them through different styles, structures, and frameworks. After completing an Honours BA in English and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph, she pursued additional training with Generator, Buddies in Bad Times, b current, Nightwood, and many others. Rochelle is a member of Workman Arts, and her Installation/Digital Media piece Queen Latifah Give Me Strength, was featured in their Rendezvous With Madness Festival. She was also the Director for the workshop production Passport to Madville produced at Workman Arts. Their play Bertha Mason was involved in the Paprika Theatre Festival.
Write to Discover is open to youth ages 15-24. Priority will be given to youth living in the City of Toronto and within the Greater Toronto Area and who self-identify as a member of the following groups: women, racialized persons, Indigenous Peoples, LGBTQ2S+ persons, and people with disabilities.
Absolutely! Anyone can participate, as long as you are interested and excited to learn!

Workshops will be held once a week for 6 weeks, and each session will be 2 hours in length. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to meet with a writing mentor to work on getting your work published.
The workshops will be held virtually over Zoom, which provides an option to dial-in using your phone.
Excellent question! Through a series of workshops, we hope to bring you on a journey of knowledge and creativity, where you will learn the fundamentals of creative writing and nurture your own unique artistic voice. Through our one-on-one mentorship program, we will help you apply lessons from the workshop series so you can work towards becoming a published author.
Workshop groups will be kept small to ensure that you can connect closely with your peers and workshop facilitators. You will have ample opportunity to share your written work and receive support and feedback from your writing group, as well as comment on the work of your peers and collaborate on interactive workshop activities.
